A little earlier this month, 40 of our international students and staff members visited Parliament House for the first day of Parliamentary Sittings in the Northern Territory.
Our students and staff were warmly welcomed by Honourable Minister, Robyn Cahill, Minister for International Education. We were delighted that she took time from her busy schedule to address our students and staff.
During their visit, our students were also greeted by Members of Parliament, Dheran Young, Member for Daly, and Manuel Brown, Member for Arafura.
Our students had the opportunity to have a conducted tour of the Parliament House organised by the education team and were able to sit in the Gallery of the Legislative Assembly to observe Question Time.
We were thrilled to hear the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Hon Robyn Lambley, and Leader of the Opposition, Selena Uibo, formally acknowledge our presence in the Gallery (peep the video 👀)
Every month, students from our Darwin campus have a planned activity to connect with our wider community promoting a sense of belonging and also providing them with a rich opportunity to understand the Territory way of life. And what a better place to start, than the Parliament of the Northern Territory!
We’d like to say a big thank you to all the members and staff who made our visit so enjoyable. We hope to see you again soon!
