Katarina Vanyova

Katarina is one of our International students from Slovakia. Her journey to Australia started in 2017 when she commenced her Certificate III in Individual Support in Sydney and she was lucky enough to get a job as a support worker for almost two years whilst completing her study. Due to her love of the industry, Katarina moved to Darwin to continue her studies in Certificate IV in Ageing Support and will be commencing her further studies in the Diploma of Community Services in February 2021.

Katarina has had an interest in working with vulnerable people, including the elderly and disabled, from a very young age. When Katarina came to Australia she had already completed a Masters Degree in Social Work in Slovakia in 2014 and she had experience in working as a support worker in Germany but, unfortunately, this course of study was not recognised under the Australian Qualification Framework.

Katarina finds it extremely beneficial to continue her studies at Alana Kaye College and is extremely happy that she has moved to Darwin to do so. Through her knowledge, experience and study with Alana Kaye College she has been successful in finding work and developing in the field that is of most interest to her.

In Katarina’s own words, “2020 was challenging for everyone, but for me it was the most successful year in my life. I found a job as a Support Worker in the Disability sector, that I really love, got an Australian Northern Territory Scholarship and became one of the 25 International Student Ambassadors. I’ve met many incredible people who encouraged me on my way.

Darwin is a perfect place to challenge myself and Alana Kaye College fully supports me on a journey through my studies”.

“There is no secret of success, work hard, learn as much as possible and never give up.”
