Rikki first came to Alana Kaye in 2011 (as our second enrolled student) to complete training in TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Rikki is a Wiradjuri lady who grew up in Darwin and had a steady career working with the indigenous youth mobility program. As part of her employment, it was a requirement that she completes the training and assessment qualification to better understand how to deliver their learning programs. She was very nervous about completing training as education was secondary to her work career.
Rikki thoroughly enjoyed the learning experience that she had with Alana Kaye College and it was from this point that she decided to pursue further higher education through starting a Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) with Charles Sturt University out of Wagga Wagga. Rikki completed this study through mixed mode method over a four year period. Her first semester was a little bit daunting and overwhelming for Rikki but her desire to learn overcame her fear of failure and she successfully completed this qualification. Rikki is now talking about doing her Masters Degree and is currently researching where and how she can complete this, while working full time.
Her progression from Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to completing her Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) has been a wonderful success story and Rikki now strongly promotes further education for others and attributes a lot of her success to Alana Kaye Training staff and the support and assistance she received.
