It’s been a really great year for Alana Kaye College with the delivery of our Certificate IV in Training and Assessing (TAE) qualification around Australia. We have worked closely with many of our clients from Northern Territory Corrections, Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Rio Tinto Gove, Charles Darwin University, Batchelor Institute, TAFE South Australia, Care Flight Queensland, G James Glass and Aluminium and Major Training Company in Queensland, to name a few.
We also worked very closely with students from Lombok Indonesia when we were involved in providing TAE training to six Indonesian students in Darwin as part of the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). This initiative was in conjunction with the Northern Territory Government and proved to be a big success. We hope to continue working and promoting Australian qualifications as part of this initiative when borders open up again and travel is safe.
Last year Alana Kaye College were named as the TAE Centre of Excellence in the Northern Territory and as a consequence of this we have had to expand our campus and include a dedicated training facility to accommodate the demand for this qualification. Over the 11 years of operation as a Registered Training Provider (70056) more than 5,500 of our students have completed qualifications in Training and Assessing and we look forward to growing our numbers in TAE40116 and to developing our training and assessing Diploma pathway around Australia.
If you have your TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment you may need to consider upgrading to the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to remain current. There are some particular conditions to this, and we would be happy to talk you through the requirements. It should be noted that if you are currently training or assessing in VET then you must at least complete the two required core units under TAE40116. You would not be considered current as a Trainer and Assessor if you did not hold at least the TAEASS502 and the TAELLN411 (or equivalent) units. Just for interest, if you look at the code for the TAE40110 this means that it came out in 2010. This qualification was superseded by TAE40116 which means that it came out in 2016. Obviously, qualifications are only upgraded by Skilled Services Organisations (SSOs) to reflect the needs of industry and as requested by industry. However, changes are called for from time to time, so it’s important to keep up to date with this qualification to remain current. Now is the perfect time to study this qualification, particularly as there is currently a large skills shortage of trainers and assessors across Australia. This is the perfect qualification for trainers, facilitators and anyone responsible for the development of other workers.
